Case study · Wholesale

Gaudí Crystal

A wholesale catalogue that doesn't sell: it qualifies. Here the visitor isn't a tourist, it's the shop that will sell the souvenir to the tourist.

The client

The project

Gaudí Crystal sells gifts and souvenirs wholesale from Barcelona and distributes across mainland Spain and the islands. Tiles, gift boxes and jewellery, with «original designs of our own».

There is a starting decision here that changes the whole site: the visitor isn't the tourist, it's the shop. A professional buyer doesn't arrive looking for a pretty fridge magnet; they arrive thinking about what they can sell this summer in their shop in Santiago.

That is why the catalogue isn't ordered by product type but by destination: Barcelona, Bilbao, Cantabria, Asturias, A Coruña, Santiago, Alicante, Madrid, the Canary Islands, the Balearics and Spain. Eleven collections matching eleven real shop windows.

The starting point

The challenges.

What had to be solved before talking about colours.

  • A wholesale catalogue where price depends on volume and can't be public
  • Eleven collections by destination, each with its own range
  • Showing physical product —tile, gift box, jewellery— on a screen
  • Getting the professional buyer to their city in two clicks
  • Turning the visit into a phone call, which is how a wholesale sale closes

What we did

The solution.

A catalogue built for someone buying to resell, not for someone buying to take home.

  1. Collections by destination, not by product

The navigation mirrors the buyer's head: first the city where they have their shop, then what is available for that city.

  2. No shopping cart, and that's a decision

There is no basket and no prices on show because in wholesale the price is negotiated. The site shows the range and leaves the number; adding a cart would have been worse service, not more modern.

  3. Direct, visible contact

Two phone numbers and an email up front. The professional buyer doesn't fill in forms: they call.

  4. Their own designs, front and centre

The pieces are theirs, not from a generic catalogue their competitor also has. The site says so and shows it, because that is the reason to buy from them.
