Case study · Media
The website of a station that plays in five cities twenty-four hours a day, on DAB+, in an app, on Alexa and on TuneIn.
The client
Peperadio is a pop-rock station —«La Popyrock de tu ciudad»— run by LOFLI Eventos y Medios from Madrid. It broadcasts on DAB+ in Madrid, Valladolid, Zaragoza, Bilbao and Quintana de la Serena (Badajoz), and online worldwide.
A medium like this has a problem other small businesses don't: the product is the live stream. If the player takes three seconds too long or fails on an old phone, the listener doesn't complain: they go to another station.
And it has a quieter one: the listener already listens to radio somewhere —Alexa, TuneIn, Radioplayer, a phone app— and the site has to take them there instead of fighting those platforms.

The starting point
What had to be solved before talking about colours.
What we did
A site built around one button: press play.
The player sits on the home page and doesn't depend on a whole page rendering before it can play. It is the first thing that loads and the last thing anyone touches.
An in-house editor for publishing articles without touching the code.
Every platform in one place: DAB+, Android and iOS apps, Radioplayer, Alexa and TuneIn. The listener picks the one they already use and the station doesn't lose the listen along the way.
An alphabetically ordered voting system with a search box and a live ranking that can be reset every week, giving the site a reason to be revisited between songs.
Let's start with something simple
