Case study · Personal brand

Laura Grande

A site where the product is Laura Grande: the camera, the voice and the events. Here the design doesn't accompany the content, it frames it.

The client

The project

Laura Grande is a journalist and television presenter working out of Valencia. On her own site she describes herself as «Valencian, cheerful, optimistic, determined, a fighter… and a JOURNALIST!».

Her work splits between two very different clients: television production companies, which want to see programmes, interviews and live broadcasts; and companies booking events, which want to see someone running a stage. Both come through the same door looking for opposite things.

The site had to serve both in under thirty seconds, which is how long the visit lasts when someone is deciding who to call.

The starting point

The challenges.

What had to be solved before talking about colours.

  • Separating television from events without splitting the brand into two websites
  • A gallery with many images that still loads fast on a phone using mobile data
  • Video and live streams embedded without the page dragging when it opens
  • Professional enquiries that arrive filtered: who is calling, what for and when
  • A site that reads just as well from a production company as from a marketing department

What we did

The solution.

Several distinct pages on one shared base design. It is the middle tier of our web design, and here you can see why it exists.

  1. A base design with six sections

Biography, Events, Gallery, TV, Alogrande and Contact. Each section has its own page and its own goal, but they share the same grid, the same typography and the same menu.

  2. An optimised gallery, not images dumped in

Images are served in modern formats and at the right size for each screen. A professional gallery without the load penalty that usually comes with it.

  3. A work enquiry form, not a contact form

The form asks what is needed to answer an event or programme proposal with something useful.
